penn-and-tellerMagic on TV

Well it certainly seems like magic is TV's flavour of the month.  With two shows being shown in quick succession, could this be the sign that magic is going to be back on our screens for the foreseeable future?  I can't be sure as I'm not a mind reader...maybe I'll ask Derren.

The first season of "The Magicians" on BBC1 has just finished and by all accounts the viewing figures reached 6 million which is fantastic.  A real sign that the public are still interested in our art and hopefully a sign that we'll see more magic in the near future.

Penn and Teller's "Fool Us" achieved just over 4 million viewers which again is great news.  The main premise of this show was that magicians had the opportunity to open for Penn and Teller in Las Vegas if they could fool them.

Although there were only 2 winners, the show was really well done and felt more like a celebration of good quality magic, with P&T applauding skill and presentation, even if they clearly weren't fooled.  Congratulations to Benjamin Earl and John Archer for managing to fool the infamous magic duo, and to all the other acts for performing so well.  I believe that they have been commissioned to make 7 more episodes of this.  Click here is a clip of Penn and Teller closing the show.

Here's to seeing more quality performers on our screens in the near future.
